An experienced journalist, broadcaster, and filmmaker, Yasir Khan is the first Canadian journalist to have reported on the Asian tsunami, from the region, within hours of the disaster. He has made documentaries on the Sri Lankan civil war, American outsourcing in India, and the Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Yasir grew up surrounded by a strange mixture of Indian classical music, Indian folk music, bollywood, hip hop and heavy metal. Rumour has it he does a mean Axl Rose version of Kabhie Kabhie. Yasir currently lives in Toronto, and works on the CBC's daily, primetime show CBC News: The Hour.
